  • RBA-Very impressive! Thursday we had this 2010 Sojourn PN from Gap's Crown. Our kind of PN! Bright foral nose, a touch of blackfruit but mostly dark red cherry, strawberries, medium body, excellent balance and grace, medium to long smooth finish. This was the last of our two bottles. Very good!  Read More

  • Any price range although I believe the really good early drinkers will fall in the $30-$80 range...... I disagree with the expensive ones tend to start well as a lot of expensive cabs are built to age and not drink young. How much is that Rattlesnake?  Read More

  • Interesting evening. We started at the German Ambassador's residence (Dr. Peter Wittig - pictured in black suit with orange tie at the podium, & Mrs. Huberta Von Voss-Wittig) for a reception to honor the upcoming Ring Cycle performances at The Kennedy Center. We start the cycle in mid-May (third series), but the first series starts tomorrow. Aft... Read More

  • DM, we all come across lower-quality wines now and zen.  Here's a study of the lower-priced zins, but I wouldn't call them all 'crap' wines.  They were ranging in age from 1-5 years, and in price from $10-26.  The tasters found that the zins peaked at 4 years of age.  Last night we had a glass of this Sancerre with left-over Chinese food while w... • Chateau de Sabazan Saint Mont 2012

    Snoothrank:

I bought this bottle of wine from a shop in London's Kensington [www.nicolas.co.uk] for £16. Saint Mont got appellation status in 2011 for red, white and rose wines from 46 communes around the medieval Benedictine Abbey which once featured on the pilgrim route to Spain and where the vineyard is still in operation.Saint Mont is located 25 miles no... • Twisted O & DMCKER, thanks for the suggestions. I just returned from Moldova where my wife and I visited Cricova and Milestii Mici wineries. I was very impressed with the tour of Cricova, which includes a healthy pour of several of their finest wines at the end served with Moldovan placinte, a traditional regional food. The tour costs about $25 ... Read More

  • Gerard Bertrand Cremant de Limoux Brut Rose Cuvee Thomas Jefferson 2013

    Snoothrank:

I recently found this Cremant de Limoux for sale at my local supermarket. They just started carrying Gerard Bertrand's wines, which none of the local wine/liquor stores carry. This sparkling wine is quite nice for the money, very dry, medium small bubbles, with a clean aftertaste. However, there are several other brands in this price range that ... Read More
