  • This morning I was pontificating in the coffee shop about wine bottle labeling.  My buddy, being the the ex-lawyer type, asked a lawyer question.  Who monitors this stuff?I then realized that I had never heard of anybody (OK, I'm talking domestically, here.) being accused of say:Labeling a bottle as "Cabernet Sauvignon" and, then, being caught f... • Hello wine lovers. Im a newby. I find that I love a Mendoza Malbec  like its oxygen and Nineteen Crimes cab is to die for ( althouth not in the way some of the criminals may have in route to australia) . I also am enjoying some less complex but well balanced red blends like Apothic. My favorite malbec so far is Alamos and Cigar Box is pretty nic... Read More

  • I am a life long wine enthusiast with a preference for Bordeaux, particularly if consumed at maturity. I do enjoy wines from other parts of the world but find I like the ones that have a claret style best. I dislike CA/domestic  fruit bombs that seem so prevalent and popular in the U S.My bias toward Bordeaux was probably set when a friend of mi... Read More

  • I get so caught up in work that I often neglect to check in here. I'm apologizing about that!  I'm back afer a few weeks in New Zealand, which sucks up all my time not only during the trip but for the weeks prior and, as it looks, most of the week after my return. Before you ask, new Zealand was great. A young wine industry but one that has made... Read More

  • One topic leads to another! How many of you think cork taint is less common than it was a few years ago? I think things have gotten better and I know of at least one cork broker who has a method of purging the TCA out of the corks before delivery. Plus, they work with a very sophisticated wine lab and the QC is much better. What do you think? Read More

  • Trying to decide what bottle of wine to bring for Thanksgiving this year, could use a few suggestions. Pretty much the normal Thanksgiving dishes i.e. Turkey, stuffing, potatoes, the usual. I'm thinking a Zinfandel would be the way to go, open to all comments. Thanks! Read More

  • I am hosting a Schreiner's Winers tasting Saturday and we're covering zins.  I was wondering what some Snooth favorites are.  I am looking to get 6-9 bottles from various areas and price ranges.  I already have a 2007 Plungerhead.  I was thinking something from Ridge?  Robert Biale?  Renwood, Ravenswood or Cosentino.  Thoughts?
