  • Greg, once again, thank you for another detailed explanation.  It looks like you and I are on the same page regarding "Produced" and "Made" being synonyms.I am still wrapped around the being able to omit the ABV % for wines < 14%, but, thanks to the brochure you linked, and what appears to be a TTB PowerPoint presentation that I found, I think I... • Hi All,  I hope you all have great Holiday season.I bought some Champagne and other sparkling white wine today and for the first time noticed there is no year indicated on the label. I haven't noticed that before.I am guessing it is only new to me.But I wonder why not all wines indicate the year and what does it mean, if at all. Thanks for your i... Read More

  • We're heading back to (my favorite wine region) Russian River the first weekend in October and are looking for advice on what to do and what to expect.  We've been to RRV several times but only during the off season.  Is there anything special we should do at this time of year, and conversely, is there anything we should avoid? • I'm headed out west on my first trip of the year. First stop is three days worth of wineries in Santa Cruz, recommendations sought for the best dining options in San Jose and Santa Cruz. No need to fancy, just someone doing something awesome or unusual with great ingredients. Then it's on to SF for a party with Kettle Chips and some fun beer and ... Read More

  • I noticed that OutThere purchased seven bottles of a particular wine at $14 and it occurred to me that it was a $100 purchase, and enough to last about a week.  So I got curious, and mentioned in the thread that it would be interesting to know how much per week people spent.  Well, Emark has better records and more time on his hands than I do, a... • This is, probably, not the most compelling wine issue of the day, but it has long bothered me that restaurants might offer wines by the glass or wines by the bottle, but very rarely do they offer wines by the half-bottle.  To me half-bottles offer elegant solutions to two different dining scenarios:I’m dining alone.  I definitely want wine with ... • Very knowledgeable about their stock, though their selection seems to be getting smaller. Nice California wines you can't find at the groceries. Easier to navigate than the wine specialty shops with 100s of wines.

  • I am hosting a Schreiner's Winers tasting Saturday and we're covering zins.  I was wondering what some Snooth favorites are.  I am looking to get 6-9 bottles from various areas and price ranges.  I already have a 2007 Plungerhead.  I was thinking something from Ridge?  Robert Biale?  Renwood, Ravenswood or Cosentino.  Thoughts?
