Columbia County is within the Hudson River Valley in New York. While the Hudson River Valley is a historic wine-producing region, Columbia County is fairly new on the scene. Hudson-Chatham Winery is its first commercial vineyard, open since 2007. Since then, a handful of others are starting to crop up. The cool climate is well suited for North American/French hybrids such as Seyval Blanc and Baco Noir, as well as Gewürztraminer, Riesling, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. Wineries also offer fruit wines such as plum wine, liqueurs such as Cassis, and ciders.

  • Burnt Bridge Cellars Semmillon

    Snoothrank:

This is produced with knowledge and tender loving care by Burnt Bridge Cellars. It has a lovely aroma of citrus, almond and dust. Although it is a bit pricy for an unknown, to drink it is to love it. Makes me feel like a King. This is their 2013 Vintage Read More

  • Reininger Cima 2008

    Snoothrank:

The wine is a beautiful bright ruby color in the glass, with great clarity. The nose is a sophisticated and layered presentation of ripe black fruit over some smoke which plays nicely off some mineral notes and a hint of leather, very reminiscent of a nice Tuscan blend. The taste a brief flash of ripe plum and tart cherry that subsides into so... Read More

  • L'Ecole No. 41 Merlot Walla Walla Valley Seven Hills Vineyard 2001

    Snoothrank:

Now bear in mind, I decanted this bottle for about an hour before tasting. The color is a lighter ruby, with just the faintest hint of auburn along the edges.
