  • You guys have been drinking up a storm, and here it is still early in the week. ... Hope & Glory Inn down in southern Virginia.  Neither wine was over $20 and after the past few days of enjoying some high-end wines, I must say that these could have been better.  However, I would drink the Sangiovese again if the price were righ Read More

  • Just got home from a nice evening in Washington DC (see Weekend Wines for details) and it's way too early for bed so we popped the cork on this 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon from Barboursville Vineyards in the southern part of Virginia.  I know it needs time in a decanter so we'll do that tomorrow with the 1/2 remaining in the bottle.  I'll just swish... • Ok, it's a truce then.  The smog is more in Southern California and you know it's there.  OT - Come out to Virginia and I'll give you a nice ride on the Harley.  We'll head over to one of the upscale wineries, perhaps RdV or Barborsville Vineyards. Thanks GT for helping out with Wine Spectator.  Read More

  • I have my two experiences to add, but neither one was myself or Sandra breaking the wine bottle; in this post I'll discuss the first one:(1)  My wife Sandra and I were at a vertical tasting of the famous Octagon and associated red wines down at the Barboursville Vineyards in the southern part of Virginia last year - October actually.  It was a f... • One Woman Merlot North Fork Rosé 2008

Brought home a bottle after tasting it at the winery a couple of weeks ago. Very unusual style of rose, released after aging instead of young. Oxidized in a more Spanish style, earthy and funky. A fun change from the typical roses on the market. Really like what One Woman is up to. Keep 'em coming! Read More
