Blanco County is a wine-producing area within Texas Hill Country. It’s become quite the tourist destination, with several inns and bed and breakfasts located near the wineries. Hill Country AVA is a very hot and dry region, but still suitable for grape-growing.

The leading grapes grown are Cabernet Sauvignon (despite the conditions), Zinfandel, Syrah, Malbec, Grenache, Petite Verdot, Pinot Noir, the native Lenoir, and wines from the Muscat family. Sweet wines and Port styles are also popular offerings since late harvest and fortified wines do well under these conditions.
