Oregon; Washington Wine

Columbia Valley, Willamette, Red Mountain, Yamhill, Yakima, Champoux, Klipsun, Ciel, Eola Hills, Walla Walla--these are names recognized for luscious wines rich in fruit, lower in acidity, and lovely in balance. Since land is less expensive, expect more wine for a dollar spent than for counterparts from California. Long Shadows wines, Col Solare and Ethos, all Washington-outside expert collaborations, offer some prime examples of NW wines at their best. – Description from easterner1

Oregon; Washington on Snooth

  • Vancouver Washington?  It's a hole.  Portland, across the river, is a destination.  Oregon is where you'll findthe pinot, if that's what you're looking for. Now, if you're thinking of Washington wineries, again, Vancouver isn't your destination.  But heck, you can go there if there's something drawing you. There's only one Vancouver worth going to... • Welcome Ellen.  My wife Sandra and I enjoy the California reds, the Oregon Pinots and yes, even Virginia wines.  We now belong to 10 wine clubs and so the wine keeps coming throughout the year, along with our separate purchases here and there.  Haven't yet been up to the Finger Lakes region however, but it's on our list.We are heading to Washing... • Being aware of price points for most of the other varietals I have always wondered why the Pinot Noirs are always priced way ahead of the other varietals. It is almost impossible to purchase a Pinot Noir at the same price point/quality as a Cabernet Sauvignon for under $20Now I live in a region where both Cabernet Sauvignon (Washington State) and... • California Sauterne.  Wow.  Talk about a blast from the past.I do remember drinking California Sauterne, Stymie.  My memory is that it was somewhat sweet (but nothing like Sauternes).  I'm sure it was a blend of different grapes. If I were to bet, I'd say French Colombard and Chenin Blanc.  If you can find a bottle of Chenin Blanc--from Californ... Read More

  • Has anyone tried Buty's Semillion-Sauvignon-Muscadelle blend (2008)? If you can find it, give it a shot. I haven't had a better white from the Pacific Northwest.
