Oregon; Washington Wine

Columbia Valley, Willamette, Red Mountain, Yamhill, Yakima, Champoux, Klipsun, Ciel, Eola Hills, Walla Walla--these are names recognized for luscious wines rich in fruit, lower in acidity, and lovely in balance. Since land is less expensive, expect more wine for a dollar spent than for counterparts from California. Long Shadows wines, Col Solare and Ethos, all Washington-outside expert collaborations, offer some prime examples of NW wines at their best. – Description from easterner1

Oregon; Washington on Snooth

  • Ok guys, I know someone out there has been drinking a few Washington State wines lately (DV??).  We had a Garrison Creek Syrah last Sunday with our friends Lynn (local friend), Patti & Pamela (both from Oregon - here for the previous day protest in Washington DC).  I don't remember the price per bottle for these but I believe it was closer to $6... • EM - I thought you already turned the corner on Pinot Noir, just needing to try a few Oregon Pinot's.  Am I mistaken? We enjoyed a nice dinner at Morton's Steakhouse in Georgetown (Washington DC) last night, prior to a chamber music performance (Leila Josefowicz in Recital) at The Kennedy Center.  I selected a 2001 Grand Reserva Rioja from their ... • Lefty, we have tasted wines in Oregon on several trips to the west coast (2013, 2016), and this year we even visited Washington along with Oregon.  The reds in the Red Mountain AVA of Washington were the best red blends in our opinion.  I hope you can gain access to them.  We did join Long Shadows Vineyards from our trip this past March. In Virgi... • Charles & Charles Cabernet Sauvignon & Syrah 2014

    Snoothrank:

Really good and very approachable. Plenty of fruit, cassis, a little coffee, anise, vanilla. The tannins are there to add a grip to the body and fill out with a dark cherry note intermingled with driving acidity. Well done - drink through 2018 - 90 points - Paul Read More

  • We are getting our daughter's bedroom painted today and tomorrow, now that she got married on Memorial Day weekend and moved out about a week ago.  New carpet will be installed on Saturday to finish the job.  This will be our plant room, or 'arboretum'.  I installed two hooks in the ceiling above the window before our painter started.  Since San... • EM - Yes, lots of older riders have their bikes shipped out to some place near Sturgis, but when I do that event, I will ride there.  It will just have to be a two or three week vacation, that's all.  One reason we are driving to Wyoming this year is to see the 'fly-over' portion of the country that we haven't seen.  We have driven quite a bit o... • Has anyone tried Buty's Semillion-Sauvignon-Muscadelle blend (2008)? If you can find it, give it a shot. I haven't had a better white from the Pacific Northwest.
