Oregon; Washington Wine

Columbia Valley, Willamette, Red Mountain, Yamhill, Yakima, Champoux, Klipsun, Ciel, Eola Hills, Walla Walla--these are names recognized for luscious wines rich in fruit, lower in acidity, and lovely in balance. Since land is less expensive, expect more wine for a dollar spent than for counterparts from California. Long Shadows wines, Col Solare and Ethos, all Washington-outside expert collaborations, offer some prime examples of NW wines at their best. – Description from easterner1

Oregon; Washington on Snooth

  • "Washington State is beautiful AND they make what I'm believing to be the best wine in North America."Dude. How much have you been sipping tonight? "As a rule, Cabernet Suavignons and Malbecs are not going to be sweet."If you mean dessert-wine sweet I'll agree. If you also accept fruit-forward I'll disagree. Just was drinking some Trapiche Finca... Read More

  • Covey Run Riesling Quail 2010

Very dry, acidic, and bitter Riesling - we didn't care for it. It paired okay with roasted chicken and vegetables, but a Chardonnay would better taken the place anywhere this Riesling could have worked. We'll definitely not be buying this again in the future. Bought at Cost Plus World Market. Read More

  • 14 Hands Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Had this yesterday with lunch. Really pleasant, though have no idea how it might stack up with anything else. Black and blue fruit, with herbs and a bit of spice, then some oak and vanilla. Nice full mouthfeel. Very impressive pricing, will need to get a few bottles and do a better tasting...by the way, it went very well with the Mushroom Raviol... Read More

  • Browne Family Vineyards Tribute Red Blend 2012

Had this at lunch at Marcello's. Nice little number with plenty of complexity from the Blend. Soft and round with the spice and dark berry flavors of the Malbec and Cabernet and cocoa and dark chocolate. Long finish that turns surprisingly a bit too dry. Nevertheless pretty darn good. • Milbrandt Traditions Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Bright red fruit on the nose, mostly raspberry and cherry but a touch of plum and a hint of vanilla. A little thin in the mouth, with more acidity than structure and a fair bit of red fruit driving. Read More

  • EM - You will be even happier to hear that not only could we purchase wine on shore, but they in fact opened the bottles for you and poured the wine with no corkage fee at all.  We didn't even need to tip them or offer anyone a taste.  That's my kind of boat ride.  The room was in fact a cabin, so I edited the web page to correct that.  I suppos... • Has anyone tried Buty's Semillion-Sauvignon-Muscadelle blend (2008)? If you can find it, give it a shot. I haven't had a better white from the Pacific Northwest.
