Oregon; Washington Wine

Columbia Valley, Willamette, Red Mountain, Yamhill, Yakima, Champoux, Klipsun, Ciel, Eola Hills, Walla Walla--these are names recognized for luscious wines rich in fruit, lower in acidity, and lovely in balance. Since land is less expensive, expect more wine for a dollar spent than for counterparts from California. Long Shadows wines, Col Solare and Ethos, all Washington-outside expert collaborations, offer some prime examples of NW wines at their best. – Description from easterner1

  • Browne Family Vineyards Tribute Red Blend 2012

    Snoothrank:

Had this at lunch at Marcello's. Nice little number with plenty of complexity from the Blend. Soft and round with the spice and dark berry flavors of the Malbec and Cabernet and cocoa and dark chocolate. Long finish that turns surprisingly a bit too dry. Nevertheless pretty darn good. • Milbrandt Traditions Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

    Snoothrank:

Bright red fruit on the nose, mostly raspberry and cherry but a touch of plum and a hint of vanilla. A little thin in the mouth, with more acidity than structure and a fair bit of red fruit driving. Read More

  • EM - You will be even happier to hear that not only could we purchase wine on shore, but they in fact opened the bottles for you and poured the wine with no corkage fee at all.  We didn't even need to tip them or offer anyone a taste.  That's my kind of boat ride.  The room was in fact a cabin, so I edited the web page to correct that.  I suppos... • AOA,Can you buy much Washington wine in Nevada?  I'm a big fan of Washington and although I like my BC wine and try to support it, I admit that Washington has kicked our asses for price/quality about 50% of the time.  Unfortunately, the place with the best wine selection in Vegas is Total Wine and More. I assume they have some Wash and Oregon wi... Read More

  • Kudos Pinot Noir Yamhill-Carlton District Willamette Valley 2012

    Snoothrank:

Nice, light to medium bodied Oregon pinot noir. Decent acidity, good black cherry, rhubarb, dark plum and dried prune overtones with a fairly long finish. Good but not great in that there aren't a lot of layers, just a straight forward dark fruit front end. Read More

  • Has anyone tried Buty's Semillion-Sauvignon-Muscadelle blend (2008)? If you can find it, give it a shot. I haven't had a better white from the Pacific Northwest.
