Back in July, I proposed a West Coast Pinot Noir throwdown on the Snooth forums. In what was a pot-luck twist on one of Gregory dal Piaz’s “Drink My Wine” events, I suggested that any Snooth forum posters could congregate in my neck of the woods—Oakla...Read more »

Ripe with deliciously full sweet fruit up front, very aussie. Juicy finish with a grand tannic splurge . Those tannins are quite gravelly texture wise adding much interest to those juicy black fruit flavours

Vangelis was good before Gallo got to him. Just like they ruined all those wine brands. But I can name a half dozen of his songs I'd still listen to.(Y'know, tongue in cheek...)My daughter is in a band that plays for a circus. They are playing the "Chariots of Fire" theme, as well as Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger." I'm wearing headphones aroun... Read More
Intense and complex on the nose with cracked black pepper, violet, roasted beef, hints of mushroom and root beer and a lovely, funky, gamy base notes. Bright on entry even if this lacks a touch of acids. A fairly big wine with wonderfully fresh flavors of black fruit, hints of currants and plums, with savory almost peppery accent notes and deep... Smells less fresh though more complex than the straight valpolicella. The wood here is obvious but well integrated, and tones down the violet aromas, inching the fruit towards black berry with darker cherry shadings. A touch smoky, light but fairly fullish bodied for a lighter styled wine, there's power here and a little creaminess. The acid is... Read More
M. Chapoutier Grenache Blend Côtes du Roussillon Villages Latour Domaine de Bila-Haut Vignes Bila 2010Snoothrank:
This is a very nice Rhone blend of syrah, grenache and carignan. Very well balanced with the blackberry and dark red cherry from the syrah coming to the forefront. This has soft, fine tannins, decent acidity, a touch of earthiness and a medium length finish. Excellent QPR! Read More
Tight on the nose and not terribly impressive but what is there shows a blackberry jam edge and cinnamon spice notes and vanilla/powdered sugar accents. Bright, attractively lean and energetic in the mouth. This is not a rich wine, though it does deliver lovely, tense sour cherry and raspberry fruit on the palate. theres lively acidity here and... Freemark Abbey was actually quite good back in the late '60s, all through the '70s and into the '80s. They were even included in the 1976 Judgment of Paris where they took 10th place, amongst some very heavyweight competition. Will post those results, fully expecting the formatting to go awry... ;-( For the reds, then the whites:RankGradeWineVin... Read More
