Read moreI have not read this entire thread so I may be repeating what someone has ... into lately is the Nub- Connecticut (made by Oliva). It is a light to medium body cigar. Perfect size, tight smoke and ash, and a great versatile flavor! I've had it with many full bodied wines but one sticks out, CigarZin (2006 Zinfandel) by M. Cosentino. I know, it sounds like a gimmick! I am not one to fall for those but it is the real deal. Pairs absolutely fantastic with a cigar, especially the nub! The wine costs about $16 and is worth the money. I’ve had some other wines from M. Cosentino but they were not as good.    (hide)

  Heritage Trail Vineyards Cabernet Franc Rouge NV

  Snoothrank: Starting at $25^.00

  A deep garnet color, this is a medium-bodied wine with a soft nose with nice notes of cherry. In the mouth, cherry is again the predominant note with a pleasant vanilla finish from the oak.

Garnet colored, the nose is lovely with rich cherry notes and that “sea-air tang” that I often find in northeastern reds. Aged for one year in French oak, the wine is on the light side of medium-bodied with subtle notes of cherry and light spice on the end which provides an interesting finish.    (hide)

Read moreThose are two completely separate issues and I don't think we need to delve ... ago I know that the State of Connecticut would charge a fee of $5000 for each wine label that a winery wanted to sell in that state. If a winery produced 10 wines, that was $50,000 that winery would have to pay up front to get their portfolio sold in the state. I can only imagine that other states have similar requirements. Now that doesn't mean that the Federal government hasn't flexed its muscle in some ways regarding alcohol. There is certainly taxation issues regarding alcohol and there are laws regarding interstate transportation of alcoholic beverages as well. However, IMO the biggest hurdle is that there are essentially 50 different sets of laws and standards that need to be addressed when dealing with alcoholic products in the US. Hence the reason that companies like DHL will only deal with a registered shipper. They avoid any possible litigation or liability by avoiding having to comply with local laws and regulations by pushing that responsibility on to the shipper    (hide)

  Sharpe Hill Vineyard Dry Summer Rose NV

  Snoothrank:

  Made from St. Croix grapes, the Rosé is a lovely soft pale rose color, with a floral, slightly earthy nose. In the mouth, there are subtle notes of strawberry which give the wine an interesting sweetness before finishing on a slightly tart note.

Unfortunately this is not one of them. Described in the tasting notes as having “complex citrus flavors,” I found the flavors to be more overpowering than complex. Very strong notes of grapefruit are present in both the nose and the mouth and I found them to overwhelm the wine.    (hide)
