Clarksburg is an emerging wine region within the Central Valley district of California. It actually spans parts of three counties: Yolo, Sacramento and Solana. The fertile area benefits from cool, coastal winds and fog off the San Francisco Bay and rich soil, slow draining soil.

It’s a relatively new wine region, reaching AVA status in 1984. Most of the grapes grown in the region are sold to outside facilities for blends. But it is still known for its Petite Syrah, Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay. ~Amanda Schuster

  • Bogle Petite Sirah California 2010

    Snoothrank:

Interesting mouthfeel. Medium bodied. Big hit of fruit--blueberries, currants, maybe some fig--on the initial entry to the palate. Not a lot of tannin here. This is, obviously, a pop-n-pour kinda wine. It's pretty easy to drink, but it could use some backbone--be that from tannin or acid. Read More

  • Bogle Petite Sirah California 2010

    Snoothrank:

This is a bold wine bursting with flavor! It has a beautiful very dark purple color with a moderately developed nose of cherries, dark red berries a hint of pepper and a distinct mineral/rock aroma. The aromas are carried over into the palate with added flavors of leather and some musk and a very long and smooth finish. The strong tannins in the... Read More
