Clarksburg is an emerging wine region within the Central Valley district of California. It actually spans parts of three counties: Yolo, Sacramento and Solana. The fertile area benefits from cool, coastal winds and fog off the San Francisco Bay and rich soil, slow draining soil.

It’s a relatively new wine region, reaching AVA status in 1984. Most of the grapes grown in the region are sold to outside facilities for blends. But it is still known for its Petite Syrah, Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay. ~Amanda Schuster

Clarksburg on Snooth

  • So far I have become a member at the Clarksburg Winery. They had a good Chenin Blanc which is one of the white wines I really like (and it is local and I like to support local business).  I then joined Draconis. They specialize in Zins and Syrah's. I tasted before I knew what they cost, about $30-50, which is more then I would normally spend unl... Read More

  • Sounds great... I have not visited there yet.  What wineries do you like in Clarksburg?  I assume Zin and Syrah?  Do they have any nice whites there?  I like whites and roses, as well as lighter reds... for the most part. Read More

  • Bogle Sauvignon Blanc California 2013

    Snoothrank:

Lightly aromatic with small grapefruit aromas and a nice streak of lime on the nose. followed by late arriving grassy notes. pretty crisp on entry if just a bit thick on the plate. This displays attractive white peach and citrus flavors in a medium full style with plenty of refreshing acidity. Theres not much follow through on the modest finish ... Read More

  • Bogle Chardonnay California 2012

    Snoothrank:

I agree with other reviewers, this is a moderately oaked classic California chardonnay with apple, pear, apple pie, and fruit salad flavors that linger in a nice finish for a chard at this price. About 86 points, 3.5 glasses considering the price (about 10 bucks) I would recommend it. Read More

  • Bogle Chardonnay California 2012

    Snoothrank:

Creamy baked apple pie aromas greet the nose with subtle vanilla streaks that recall a la mode pie. Theres even a little allspice and cinnamon here to complete the picture. Gently sweet/tart on entry, this actually shows more freshness of fruit that the nose suggestion, though it is fairly ripe apple and nectarine tinged fruit. The sweetness be... Read More

  • Bogle Chardonnay California 2012

    Snoothrank:

This is still what I would classify as "entry-level," but it is certainly a good value. What is has: vanilla, cream, light tropical fruit, and some astringency. Good value. Read More
