San Joaquin Valley, within the county of the same name, is part of the larger Central Valley district in California. It extends from Stockton in the north to Bakersfield in the south, with the Sierra Nevada mountains in the east and the Pacific Coast Ranges in the west. The climate is typically hot and dry. Though there is limited rainfall, irrigation is sourced from a system of canals and two reservoirs.

Wine-making began in the region as California gained statehood, although it wasn’t recognized for quality production until the 1960s and 70s. Once advancements in warm-weather oenology caught on, wine-makers found ways to produce higher quality wines.

The region is known for concentrated red wines from Zinfandel, and whites from Chardonnay and Colombard.

My friends have spent over $50 on fancy bottles of Cabernet for special occasions (forgot the names) and this one definitely takes the throne. I only paid 12$ for this bottle and they can definitel... Read More
