San Joaquin County Wine

for this region?

The Central Valley wine region of California is located east of the San Francisco Bay area, running south through the Sacramento and San Joaquin valleys to Bakersfield. It is within these valleys, and the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta where they meet in between, where viticulture takes place.

The hot, dry conditions of the region are prone to high yields, which is how this region became the center of California’s bulk wine production. But within some of the Valley’s subregions, a growing number of high quality wines are also in production.

Central Vallley is divided into the following subregions:
Diablo County
Fresno County
Lodi
Madera
River Junction
Tracy Hills
Yolo County

  • Ghostrider Ungrafted Red Lodi 2014

    Snoothrank:

Dark and smoky aromas of rich red raspberry and chalky notes of red currant and spice. This is velvety in the mouth with loads of bright cherry flavor, fresh ripe raspberry and toasted vanilla cream. A fun and easy drinking red blend that feels elegant and soft in the mouth while not being afraid to dish out a bit of spice on the finish. Read More

    Snoothrank:

The flavor has a distinct taste and smell of Mega Purple or some other additive that has a distinct impact on my palate. It hit me too strong to know whether the other aspects of the wine are good or not. Unfortunate, since I love a good Zin! Read More

  • Campus Oaks Zinfandel Reserve Old Vine 2011

    Snoothrank:

Lightly herbal on the nose, this is quite pronounced with loads of smoky black fruit and mature notes of forest floor and cinnamon spice. In the mouth this is rich and full with huge bunches of red and black fruit, with blackberry preserve and ripe black cherry on entry with savory notes of dark molasses, toast and bramble fruit. Drying tannins ... Read More
