San Joaquin County Wine

for this region?

The Central Valley wine region of California is located east of the San Francisco Bay area, running south through the Sacramento and San Joaquin valleys to Bakersfield. It is within these valleys, and the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta where they meet in between, where viticulture takes place.

The hot, dry conditions of the region are prone to high yields, which is how this region became the center of California’s bulk wine production. But within some of the Valley’s subregions, a growing number of high quality wines are also in production.

Central Vallley is divided into the following subregions:
Diablo County
Fresno County
Lodi
Madera
River Junction
Tracy Hills
Yolo County

  • Zin-Phomaniac Zinfandel Lodi 2015

    Snoothrank:

Dusty black tea, raspberry and blueberry aromas. Chewy red fruit and baking spice flavors, tart and full of mixed berry with more of the dried black tea leaf flavor coming through with strawberry and cinnamon on the finish. Read More

  • David Akiyoshi Reserve Chardonnay 2015

    Snoothrank:

Another recent Naked Wines selection. A gold silver in the glass. Opens with raisin, rose petal, and cream; on to vanilla and oak; then orange rind, lime, and cream butter. Medium acidity, lightly oaked - not nearly as oaked as it smells, with a mesquite smoke bite. Smooth, full, and lush in the mouth growing more acidic and smokey as it opens i... Read More

  • Michael David Winery 'Sixth Sense' Syrah Lodi Appellation 2013

    Snoothrank:

As someone who steers away from heavy tannic Cabs, this bottle was quite the delight. It poured into a lovely Ruby red color in the glass. It is similar in body to a classic Merlot, but much more complex in flavor.Gorgeous fruit with notes of chocolate, wood, and a touch of spice. This wine was a surprising delight from the usual syrahs I have t... Read More

  • Earthquake Petite Sirah Lodi 2013

    Snoothrank:

Inky black in the glass. Blackberries, spice, oak lead the way and follow nicely to the palate. This is a mouthful and deservedly so. Firm tannins, full throttled fruit and balanced acidity drive a lengthy aftertaste. 91 points - Drink or hold - Paul Read More
