North Coast Wine

The North Coast AVA is a region that spans eight counties and dozens of prestigious subregions within California. The Pacific Ocean creates cooling air and fog conditions that benefit quality grapegrowing. Most of the wines produced in the area use their own subregion on the label, so wines labeled North Coast are often ones made with a blend of grapes from different parts of the region.

The North Coast is further subdivided into the following regions:
Humboldt County
Lake County
Marin County
Mendocino County
Napa County
Sonoma County
Solano County
Trinity County

  • Gauthier Select Vineyards Pinot Noir Rockin H Ranch Vyd 2012

    Snoothrank:

Like many of the 2012 Pinot Noirs Ive had, this one is rather tannic in structure, and its an open question as to whether the fruit will last long enough for the tannins to resolve themselves. In terms of nose and mouthfeel, this wine is more reminiscent of a Zinfandel than a Pinot Noir in fact, in many ways it recalls the Los Chamizal Zinfande... Read More

  • Limerick Lane 1023 2014

    Snoothrank:

Bright, tart red fruitcherryon entry. Interestingly, enough, the tartness almost suggests citrus, and, going really crazy, orange as much as anything. Some woodiness mid-palate. Medium-bodied. Not much tannin to speak of. A fun, easy-to-drink wine. Read More
