North Coast Wine

The North Coast AVA is a region that spans eight counties and dozens of prestigious subregions within California. The Pacific Ocean creates cooling air and fog conditions that benefit quality grapegrowing. Most of the wines produced in the area use their own subregion on the label, so wines labeled North Coast are often ones made with a blend of grapes from different parts of the region.

The North Coast is further subdivided into the following regions:
Humboldt County
Lake County
Marin County
Mendocino County
Napa County
Sonoma County
Solano County
Trinity County

North Coast on Snooth

  • Lagier-Meredith Syrah 2011

    Snoothrank:

Nicely sedate levels of dark fruit on entry. Equally nice levels of structural tannin and acid. Very much full-bodied. Very pleasant, albeit brief, aftertaste. Interestingly, alcohol burn sensation lingers on the tongue for several seconds after swallowing. My little gripe notwithstanding, I think this is a well-made, savory wine that is easy... Read More

  • Titus Zinfandel 2014

    Snoothrank:

Very pretty blue/purple in the glass. Red fruit on entryraspberry, a bit of cherry. Then, some good tannin. Good. This wine has backbone. Not as rustic as a DCV Zin, but, certainly, not a wimp. Probably, not a good match for an elegant dinner, but winner, winner with a more casual meal. Read More

  • Cline Family Cellars Viognier North Coast California 2016

    Snoothrank:

Peach candy and dried apricot notes on the nose with tropical notes of pineapple. Creamy and full bodied on the palate, this carries a lot of fresh fruit - flavors of peach, ripe apple, pineapple and mango with a dry finish of earthy oak toast. Juicy up front and warming on the finish. Read More

  • Emblem Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2014

    Snoothrank:

Milk chocolate and red currant preserve aromas with clove and cinnamon spice, black cherry, savory earth and blueberry on the nose. Medium plus body in the mouth with loads of character and fresh fruit flavors of cherry, blackberry and black currant, tart acidity adding another dimension and plum fruit riding through to the dense finish of choco... • J Vineyards Brut Rose Russian River Valley NV

    Snoothrank:

Warm cherry and strawberry aromas, smooth and balanced with floral notes. Zesty and tart citrus notes on the palate with tangerine, lemon and grapefruit notes with fresh strawberries and cream, very warm with baking spices and bold acidity with a bit of earthiness coming through towards the finish, framed with cherry and a faint tannin layering ... • Mumm Napa Brut Prestige NV

    Snoothrank:

Classic aromas of golden pear, Granny Smith apple and hearty country toast with a hint of banana on the nose. Elegant and refined on the palate with tart tangerine pith and pink grapefruit notes, a puckering citrusy bright mid palate and a finish of oak and toasted hazelnut. 92 pts Read More

  • Myriad Syrah Sangiacomo Vineyard Petaluma Gap 2014

    Snoothrank:

This wine opens with a terrific hit of tart stone fruitplum. Certainly, a full-bodied wine. However, moderate, at the maximum, on the tannin which is balanced by moderate, at the maximum, acid. I find this a fun-to-drink wine that doesnt require a ton of oenological esoterica to enjoy. Read More

  • Schug Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2015

    Snoothrank:

ABV 13.8% Rather light on the nose but with hints of cherry. Ruby red in color. Body is medium light. First impression is sour cherry that becomes quite tart and finishes with a hint of dark cherry and some notable dry tannins. Read More
