North Coast Wine

The North Coast AVA is a region that spans eight counties and dozens of prestigious subregions within California. The Pacific Ocean creates cooling air and fog conditions that benefit quality grapegrowing. Most of the wines produced in the area use their own subregion on the label, so wines labeled North Coast are often ones made with a blend of grapes from different parts of the region.

The North Coast is further subdivided into the following regions:
Humboldt County
Lake County
Marin County
Mendocino County
Napa County
Sonoma County
Solano County
Trinity County

  • Honig Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley 2013

    Snoothrank:

Very good as always. Petrol, melon, citrus, lanolin and stone fruit on the nose lead to tantalizing, mouthwatering finish with plenty of minerality and acidity. Drink now - Paul 89 poits Read More

  • Sledgehammer Cabernet Sauvignon North Coast 2014

    Snoothrank:

Dark red/purple hues make up the coloring and the clarity is great! Aromas of Black Cherry, Plums and other assorted ripe berry blended with subtle spicy vanilla/cinnamon. Flavors follow suit with rich, intense black fruit, spice and even hints of milk chocolate and vanilla. Smooth velvet on the palate and the booze is well hidden after two m... Read More

  • Duckhorn Decoy 2012

    Snoothrank:

Another good but nothing to write about wine. the entry Duckhorn brand isn't about substance, that i've experienced, it's more about selling to the novice drinker at an exaggerated price point. this is a very easy going cabbie thst requires NO thought or or taste buds. What saves it is the lingering fruit on a beam of acidity that grows. Paul 84... Read More

  • Frogs Leap Chardonnay Napa Valley 2009

    Snoothrank:

I was blown away by this wine. It may be that others score higher or lower, but I dare say that everyone will agree it's different - oh say pinot grigio different. Rick was the first to say so - I cautiously waited, but except for the lemongrass throughout and small creamy notes on the nose this is totally PG. A golden hay liquid with green melo... Read More

  • Dry Creek Vineyard Heritage Vines Sonoma Zinfandel 2012

    Snoothrank:

Boy was this good. Dry Creek has mastered zins over the years and Heritage Vineyards has some of the best zin stock ever. Dense, black and brooding this exudes varietal excitement. Blackberry, damson plum, oak, pepper, spice and briary notes lead to a palate that follows the nose well. This leads to a medium to full bodied tannic structure that ... Read More

  • Markham Merlot Napa Valley 2010

    Snoothrank:

I stored this bottle just to see how it would hang. Nothing special, it's just that I like Markham and this bottling received less positive hype than most. A brooding dark juice with excellent viscosity, blackberry and dark cherry, chocolate and spice. Married completely now this finishes balanced and seamless. Paul 90 points Read More
