North Coast Wine

The North Coast AVA is a region that spans eight counties and dozens of prestigious subregions within California. The Pacific Ocean creates cooling air and fog conditions that benefit quality grapegrowing. Most of the wines produced in the area use their own subregion on the label, so wines labeled North Coast are often ones made with a blend of grapes from different parts of the region.

The North Coast is further subdivided into the following regions:
Humboldt County
Lake County
Marin County
Mendocino County
Napa County
Sonoma County
Solano County
Trinity County

  • Roots Run Deep Educated Guess Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

    Snoothrank:

Opens with Plum, Cedar, Oak, and Vanilla; then on to Plum and Bing Cherry; finishes with a bit of Slate, Vanilla, Mint, and Concord Grape. A big, full mouthful with a long long finish of stewed fruit, Blackberry, Licorice, and Milk Chocolate. Cannot remember when or where I picked this bottle up, but wish I had more. Read More

  • Ferrari-Carano Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley 2013

    Snoothrank:

Blackberry and rich baking spice on the nose with some soft earth and notes of candied plum. This shows a good herbal note in the mouth and powerful fruit notes of dark blackberry preserves, black currant and black cherry, chewy tannins and nice balance. Very creamy on the finish with lovely vanilla notes and a hint of black pepper and cedar. Read More

  • Jarvis Tomei Family Helping Hand Pinot Noir North Coast 2012

    Snoothrank:

A Naked Wines selection. Pale Brown Ruby in the Glass. Opens with a dusty book/must and shortcake; then on to a bit of Blackberry, Spice, & Vanilla; finishes with Herbs, Green Pepper, and not quite ripe Plum; Somewhat surprisingly, none of these carry over to the taste. Somewhat thin mouthful and a bit of an alcohol burn, but then it opens up, s... Read More

  • La Crema Virtuoso Pinot Noir Russian River Valley 2014

    Snoothrank:

Beautiful aromas of dark black cherry and ripe plum, this is perfectly round and spiced and full. A delicately herbal note of eucalyptus comes through amidst elegant fruit notes of cherry and mixed berry, a pop of luscious fruit that turns slightly tart towards the finish imparting a hint of licorice, cranberry and cinnamon. On pop and pour it was disjointed, harsh and undrinkable which wasn't a good feeling since my previous bottle of this was corked. I let it sit for a couple days and ... Read More
