North Coast Wine

The North Coast AVA is a region that spans eight counties and dozens of prestigious subregions within California. The Pacific Ocean creates cooling air and fog conditions that benefit quality grapegrowing. Most of the wines produced in the area use their own subregion on the label, so wines labeled North Coast are often ones made with a blend of grapes from different parts of the region.

The North Coast is further subdivided into the following regions:
Humboldt County
Lake County
Marin County
Mendocino County
Napa County
Sonoma County
Solano County
Trinity County

  • Keenan Cabernet Franc Spring Mountain District 35th Anniversary 2011

    Snoothrank:

Beautiful dark purple color. Rustic woody nose, but, also, a hint of alcohol. On entry lots of dried fruit flavorraisins and prunes, but without the sweetness. Some of that road tar sensation. This, to me, brings in complexity after the fruity entry. Pretty serious unresolved tannins. I dont discount a wine just because of tannin. Tannin ... Read More

  • La Crema Chardonnay Sonoma Coast 2014

    Snoothrank:

  • Parducci True Grit Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

    Snoothrank:

Very easy drinking Cabernet. Would have enjoyed tasting this with a few other Cabernets to see just where this one sits and ranks. Good balance of oak and fruit, with dark fruit, a bit of coffee/chocolate, and some vanilla bean. Not bad for a restaurant selection. Read More

  • J Vineyards Cuvee 20 Premier NV

    Snoothrank:

Lemon, pear and green apple fruit aromas with soft biscuit notes and a touch of cream. Pleasant mousse in the mouth with honeyed apple and tart pear notes with more lemon and grapefruit notes blossoming towards the finish that lingers for quite a while with notes of pineapple and vanilla cream. • Jemrose Foggy Knoll Vineyard Grenache 2010

    Snoothrank:

Fairly dark purple in the glass. Fruit/berry heavy on the nose. Really not over-the-top fruit on entrysome blackberry, some suggestion of lemon in the background. Certainly not fruity sweet. Sufficient acid to give it a good backbone. Im not normally a Grenache guy, but I like this one. Read More
