St. Helena is known as the “heart of the Napa Valley” wine region of California. Ironically, this thriving town built on the wine industry gets its name from the 1850s St. Helena Chapter (named for the mountain in the distance) of the Sons of Temperance, an organization dedicated to the reform and prevention of “drunkards.”

The Phylloxera crisis at the end of the century hit the region hard, and Krug had to file for bankruptcy. A year after his death in 1892, James Moffitt purchased the land and began replanting vines using the Phylloxera “cure” of graftings onto American roostock. • Conn Creek Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

    Snoothrank:

A good Cabernet.....but lacking IMHO on the end finish. It took a while for this to open...especially on the nose. It's good, but lacking some additional backbone and structure. Hints of Mocha and Walnut with some bing cherry. Tame tannins. Good but needs that little extra something. Cheers! Read More

Wonderful Merlot. I was dissappointed by their Cabernet which I drank during the winter. But this wine explodes from the glass with a wonderful nose of berrys and anse. Good structure and a great long finish....The color of the wine is dark dark red....and exibits Malbec qualities on site. I highly recommend this Merlot...More proof that the... Read More
