St. Helena is known as the “heart of the Napa Valley” wine region of California. Ironically, this thriving town built on the wine industry gets its name from the 1850s St. Helena Chapter (named for the mountain in the distance) of the Sons of Temperance, an organization dedicated to the reform and prevention of “drunkards.”

In 1861, German immigrant Charles Krug established the first winery in his name. He not only pioneered European varietal plantings, but also fermentation techniques and the careful selection of root stocks. • OT I grew up in St. Helena and moved to Santa Rosa in 1973 where I lived until 1980. I worked at Korbel and then at Chateau St Jean where I helped set up their Graton facility and through their first crush. They bottled their first sparkling wine under the label of Shadow Creek. I moved to Santa Barbara in 1980. Are you in Santa Rosa?  Read More

Its easy to pronounce this one as balanced since it is not a terribly complex wine. One dimensional describes it for me. Light on tannins and acidity leads me to the conclusion that this one is not a long a... Read More
