  • I believe the group associated with this wine tasting event is Feast it Forward.  I cannot see a history of them hosting this event on their web page though, so it's hard for me to confirm.  Several of the wineries do establish a connection though (B Wise).  What do you guys know about Feast it Forward?  The 'GEMS' I believe represents the jewel... • A few years too late, but I'm searching for those as well.  Recently fell in love with miner's family wild yeast chardonnay. It's scrumptious,  velvety butter, nice oak, golden coloring.  It's my new too beat wine! Anyway, if you are still searching is be curious to know your thoughts on that one to others.  Can't wait to start trying some of th... Read More

  • Hmmm.  Nobody's been here in over five hours.NBDAbout to grill some steaks, tonight.  I bought a couple bottles of this in, I believe, the Last Bottle Marathon a few months ago. I am not the most alert buyer.. When this one came up, the price was right, it was a winery of which I had heard, but had no familiarity.  I did not even notice the vine... Read More

  • Okay, I still disagree.  We have a good selection of European wines here, but not AS GOOD as some places on the East Coast. If you are talking restaurants, there's RN74 for burg (and not much else, including food), a few places for Italian.  If you are talking wine stores, K&L for Bordeaux, North Berkeley for Burgundy, WineHouse for Burgundy and... • OT, last night must have been a Pobega that Bedrock night.  We took this over to our friends house (the folks that went to Sonoma/Napa with us earlier this month).  I decanted it early in the afternoon and it was still a bit tight when served with dinner. By the time of the last glass it had opened up quite nicely.  This is more about fruit and ... Read More

  •  2014 Myriad Cellars Syrah Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard - USA, California, Napa Valley (3/19/2017)Savory black olive tapenade is the first thing to greet your nose on this deep purple Syrah. • Stephen, you should start thinking in terms of sourcing from the US directly. I put together a curated list of reliable online vendors which (almost all) ship overseas. I'll dig it up and post the link later. For now, here's a current offering from one purveyor on the list (Sea Smoke is a cult wine but I view it as one of the weakest in this lis... Read More

  • I think JD is correct when you talk about Cab Sauv. Best is from Napa and you pay. But look at Washington. Andrew Will, Pepper Bridge, Woodward Canyon, and Betz are a few to start with. Andrew Will is a great wine for people who like classic Bordeaux. The mass-market Chateau St. Michelle Cab or Merlot is actually pretty decent for what you pay. A... Read More
