Anderson Valley Wine

Anderson Valley AVA is located within Mendocino County in the North Coast region of California. Anderson Valley is named for a mid 1800s pioneer family who isolated themselves from the rest of the frontier packs and were drawn to the valley’s natural beauty, fertile grounds and abundant wildlife. Soon, other settlers, mainly the Swiss and those from the Eastern US, came to join them. Most early attempts at wine-making failed due to cold and frost conditions near the valley floor. It wasn’t until the 1890s that an influx of Italian immigrants found their to the valley and settled in the Greenwood Ridge section, which is considerably higher, sunnier and warmer than the lower parts of the valley. • Champ de Reves Pinot Noir 2010

    Snoothrank:

Rather seductively perfumed on the nose with lots of underbrush, root beer candy and coriander accents to the core of deep raspberry coulis fruit all topped with a fresh vegetal note that recalls fennel. Rich and chewy in the mouth and endowed with powerful, dark fruit, though this remains transparent on the palate. there are really beautiful fa... Read More

  • Copain Wine Cellars Pinot Noir Kiser En Bas Anderson Valley 2010

    Snoothrank:

Offers up a really complex nose with layers of tea leaves, a little fruit cake, raspberries, and a soft nuanced oak vein. Bright in the mouth with gorgeously pure and fresh raspberry fruit that shows impressive depth. This is elegant and faceted in the mouth, really lovely if it lacks the power that some might be looking for. 92pts My third plac... Read More
