Humboldt Wine

About half of the nearly 30 wineries in Humboldt County source the majority of their grapes from within the county. Most of the vineyards are small plots that are scattered on South facing hillsides. The main varietals grown in the county include Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah and others. The climate in the county varies with distance from the coast, elevation and other factors. Because of the rugged terrain, there are many distinct micro-climates. Each location can produce distinct traits, even in the same varietal. – Description from Andrew46

  • I dug into the Cabot bin tonight. $20 blend of Cab, Syrah, Zinfandel and Merlot from Humboldt County. $20? Are you kidding me?  I'm getting more out of this than some CT tasters who are writing notes on price rather than the wine. Syrah 60%, Cabernet Sauvignon 20%, Zinfandel 15%, Merlot 5% 100% delicious. Great food wine.  Read More
