Humboldt Wine

About half of the nearly 30 wineries in Humboldt County source the majority of their grapes from within the county. Most of the vineyards are small plots that are scattered on South facing hillsides. The main varietals grown in the county include Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah and others. The climate in the county varies with distance from the coast, elevation and other factors. Because of the rugged terrain, there are many distinct micro-climates. Each location can produce distinct traits, even in the same varietal. – Description from Andrew46
