  • Qupe Chardonnay Y Block Santa Barbara County 2014

    Snoothrank:

Old world in style, shy on the nose, nice acidity with a tannin free finish. Reminds me of Macon Villages and at the same price point. On the second day this wine developed a more fruit forward nose and a tropical palate as well as a little butter. Nice wine, I recommend it. Read More

  • J. Lohr Riverstone Chardonnay 2015

    Snoothrank:

This is an amazing chard for the price, or any price. It is rich but light, balanced acidity, beautiful complex oak, a great glass to drink for sheer pleasure or to pair with almost any food. It is strong enough to stand up to rich red meat, and balanced enough to make a delicate grilled orata come to life. Reliable every year, Lohr is a bargain... Read More

I'm driving up to the Central Coast, it might be fun to stop in Los Alamos and check out Pico.  However, their wine list is pretty darned comprehensive.  It would be presumptious of me to think that I had to rely on my collection because I couldn't find a wine off their list t... • Woodwork Zinfandel 2013

    Snoothrank:

This Zinfandel was bought for $4.99 on a closeout at Trader Joe's. It's normally supposed to be a roughly $15 bottle. At $5 it was a screaming bargain. It compares quite nicely to the zinfandels I've been getting for $4-$8 at Grocery Outlet on similar closeouts. I wish this were still available at Trader Joe's, as I would surely pick up a c... • Night Train 2006

    Snoothrank:

Ripe aromas of fig, blackberry and cassis are softened and sweetened by a slathering of oaky chocolate and vanilla. This is full, layered, intense and cushioned on the palate, with rich flavors of chocolaty black fruits and baking spices. A toasty, everlasting finish is heady but ideally balanced. I did end end passed out for 17 hours in a field... Read More

  • Rock Rabbit Central Coast Zinfandel 2014

    Snoothrank:

This not very zinfandel like IMO. Mostly red fruit, plum with a tad bit of dark cherry. A little spice adds in with medium chewy tannins and goos acidity. It's decent wine, just a very different zin. 87 points - drink now - Paul Read More
