Central Coast Wine

Central Coast is a vast AVA that spans between Santa Barbara County in the south to the San Francisco Bay area in the north, touching six counties within the state of California. This huge expanse encompasses a diverse array of microclimates and growing conditions and is responsible for fifteen percent of the state’s total wine production.

The sub-AVA’s within Central Coast are:
  • San Francisco Bay
  • Monterey

  • Continuing with the Old Vines Zinfandel theme that I started ... wine that I ... wine that I picked up in our Central Coast visit, last October. This wine is clearly better than last night's. At approximately twice the price, it better be.  Red dried fruit on entry.  Surprising (for Zinfandel) savoriness.  Not the most full-bodied wine, but not... Read More
