Central Coast on Snooth

  • This morning I was pontificating in the coffee shop about wine bottle labeling. ... was, say, 50% RRV and 50% Central Coast--or, gasp, 100% Central Coast. So, what organization is responsible for verifying the veracity of wine labels? Has anybody ever heard of a winery that has been sanctioned for or even accused of violating labeling law Read More

  • Wayside Wine White Wine Central Coast 2013

    Snoothrank:

A recent Tasting Room quarterly Wine selection. Pale Gold in the glass; opens with Green Apple, Lime, & Kiwi; off to a bit of Melon and more Lime; Honey, Oak, and Cedar. Most of these carry over to the palate with more notes of Honey and Fig. Medium body, nicely balanced, fruit forward, with medium acidity. Long finish with a bit of Oak, White P... Read More

  • Sphere Monterey County Pinot Noir 2014

    Snoothrank:

For me to like a pinot noir, it has to be full bodied, like Russian River Valley. This one nails it. Black fruit. Well balanced. Found at Trader Joe's. Fantastic price point. Read More

  • Hahn Winery Meritage Red Blend 2013

    Snoothrank:

Nice little number, if a bit too easy to drink. Smooth and full in the mouth, with enough interest of fruit, coffee, spice and oak. Good everyday drinker, and perhaps rating this too high for what it is, but at this price point, a sure bet. Read More

  • Kendall Jackson Chardonnay Grand Reserve 2014

    Snoothrank:

Cool and floral on the nose with elderflower and tea leaf aromas and fruit notes of lemon zest and green apple. This has a bit of herbal leaf up front with pleasant peach and green apple notes, touches of vanilla and oak through the center and a finish that is yeasty and tart in equal measure with a bit of cedar and toast to finish. • Los Alisos Chardonnay Santa Barbara County 2007

    Snoothrank:

After forgetting about my second bottle of this one, had it with lunch yesterday afternoon. Terrific Chardonnay, though a bit heavy-handed with the Oak. Rich and Buttery, though with a surprisingly thin mouthfeel. Caramel, Toffee, dried Fruit - with a long finish of Vanilla, Oak, Caramel, and bite of Spice. Balanced Acidity. Overall - lovely. • Weird thread to revive. Twice no less!Anyhow, I suppose the OP and the other poster won't be around again. Too bad. Tokaj is the region, Tokaji means roughly "from the region of Tokaj". Pronunciation is the same. Tokay is a British bastardization of the word and Tocai an Italian one, which they are no longer allowed to use under the EU rules, ju... Read More
