Central Coast Wine

Central Coast is a vast AVA that spans between Santa Barbara County in the south to the San Francisco Bay area in the north, touching six counties within the state of California. This huge expanse encompasses a diverse array of microclimates and growing conditions and is responsible for fifteen percent of the state’s total wine production.

The sub-AVA’s within Central Coast are:
  • San Francisco Bay
  • Monterey
  • San Benito
  • San Luis Obispo
  • Santa Barbara
  • Salado Creek

  • Sterling Vineyards Vintners Collection Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

    Snoothrank:

Gift from Mom, 9/21/17. I rarely purchase Calif. cabernet. My experience is there is better value in the imports. Yes, I am cheap, but I have also been burned more times than I care to mention. However, my wife enjoyed this bottle over several nights. On behalf of my wife, thank you mother. Read More

  • Bridlewood Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

    Snoothrank:

Fruity mixed berry aromas with soft earth. Red fruit full on the palate, loads of cherry and raspberry with a medium body and some floral notes, a bit of licorice on the finish and strong tannins gripping the tongue. Read More

  • Edna Valley Vineyard Chardonnay 2015

    Snoothrank:

Tart lemon, melon and green apple on the nose. Juicy, creamy and medium-full bodied in the mouth, a bit of an earthy-herbal-oaky note that comes across a little brutish and mostly overpowers the fruit notes of peach, lemon and apple. Read More

  • Qupe Chardonnay Y Block Santa Barbara County 2014

    Snoothrank:

Old world in style, shy on the nose, nice acidity with a tannin free finish. Reminds me of Macon Villages and at the same price point. On the second day this wine developed a more fruit forward nose and a tropical palate as well as a little butter. Nice wine, I recommend it. Read More

  • J. Lohr Riverstone Chardonnay 2015

    Snoothrank:

This is an amazing chard for the price, or any price. It is rich but light, balanced acidity, beautiful complex oak, a great glass to drink for sheer pleasure or to pair with almost any food. It is strong enough to stand up to rich red meat, and balanced enough to make a delicate grilled orata come to life. Reliable every year, Lohr is a bargain... Read More

I'm driving up to the Central Coast, it might be fun to stop in Los Alamos and check out Pico.  However, their wine list is pretty darned comprehensive.  It would be presumptious of me to think that I had to rely on my collection because I couldn't find a wine off their list t...
