  • Long Meadow Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2006

    Snoothrank:

A wonderful cab. Aroma of dark fruits which carry over to he taste on the palate. Tannins are somewhat soft. A moderate finish. The freshness of this 2006 is very pleasing. Read More

  • Hendry Vineyards Zinfandel Block 7 & 22 2011

    Snoothrank:

Lots of blackberry fruit on introduction to the palate. Then there is alcoholic heat. Towards the back of the palate there is an annoying sourness. I like acidic tartness, but this sourness is just not pleasant. In a few more glasses Ill probably have enough alcohol in me to totally blunt my senses, and this wine will then become OK. Read More

  • Taken Red Blend Napa Valley 2012

    Snoothrank:

A good solid red Napa blend of 60% Cabernet and 40% Merlot. Nothing fantastic, but solid. The best part of the wine is the super deep garnet color. It's beautiful in the glass. The nose is decent, and the structure of the wine is decent. The 2012 Taken is worth checking out with lighter faire! Cheers! Read More

  • Marietta Cellars Christo Lot Number 2

    Snoothrank:

Picked this up at Jubilation. A big beast of a wine - 15.2% alcohol. Opens with some baking yeast and vanilla raspberry preserves, bit more and more vanilla, and then blackberry/black currant to dark cherry oak fudge. Big slippery silky mouthful with long finish. Predominately Syrah, pepper, spice, savory meats and herbs, with an expanding taste... Read More

  • Mayacamas Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 1976

    Snoothrank:

[This wine was gifted to me by my brother-in-law who found it in an estate sale. We believe the storage for the last 40 years was less than ideal.] Slight bricking color. Very musty or maybe, horsey, nose. On the tip of the tongue, this one is surprisingly refreshing. Some dried fruit flavorscherry, plum. Very sedate tannin, but still so... Read More

  • Jim Olsen and Tom Shula Pickberry Merlot 2013 2013

    Snoothrank:

A Naked Wines selection and one of the better ones at that. Opens with plum and elderberry jam, deepens more with sweet fudge and roasted chiles, cherry preserves, and rhubarb. Very Soft tannins and low acidity. Finishes with a medium long finish of spices, herbs, and black pepper. An interesting and complex little number continuing to open up i... Read More

  • Mauritson Rockpile Cemetery Vineyard Zinfandel 2012

    Snoothrank:

Very deep blood red color. Big blackberry/brambly Zin nose. Lots of same on the tip of the tongue, followed by citrus-like acid, then a neutralizing hint of earthiness. Quite tame (for Zinfandel) tannin seems to make this an easy one to sip without food, if one was so inclined. Read More

  • Hendry Vineyards Zinfandel Block 28 2011

    Snoothrank:

Murky red color in the glass. Berry aromas with a hint of volatile alcohol. Very sedate entry on the tongue. Red raspberry suggestions on the tip of the tongue, but then some steeliness (I really dont know how else to describe it.) as it passes to the back of the tongue and palate. Annoying alcohol keeps pops up suggesting lack of balance. Read More
