Speyside (mostly Aberdeenshire, so Edinburgh is not too far away) has the most distilleries per square mile. Google 'malt whisky trail' for plenty of info. If you can make it, I recommend the world's smallest distillery, Edradour, not far from Pitlochry. Best distillery tour I've been on. If you want more info, you can PM me. And as a Glaswegian, I must insist that the best nightlife, music and culture in general is in Glasgow. Edinburgh is a tourist trap, although very beautiful for it.
