With additions of Graciano, Mazuela and Grancha the wines of Rioja can take on additional layers of flavor and aroma but the tradition of extended oak aging for Rioja's great wines contributes an even more obvious imprint. • Lot 93 Rioja Tempranillo 2004

    Snoothrank:

  • Lopez de Heredia Bosconia Rioja 2000

    Snoothrank:

This opens with just a touch of an acetic tone then turns layered with an earthy, leathery core of jellied raspberry fruit with a touch of vanilla and high tones of pepper, cedar, and a brisk saline note. • Lopez de Heredia Bosconia Rioja 2000

    Snoothrank:

Light on the nose, but with an interesting chemical quality thats barely present. Aged and mellowing, retaining high acidity. Its very mineral - like sucking on a small pebble (the acidity makes the mouth water which helps with this analogy). Fairly meaty and earthy. Read More
