The Cariñena D.O. in the Aragon region was originally named for the grape of the same name, which used to dominate local plantings. However Garnacha has replaced much of those plantings more recently due to its popularity and response to the region’s growing conditions. • Castillo de Monseran Old Vines Garnacha 2010

    Snoothrank:

The nose was ripe, yet characterful, showing dark fruit, ripe strawberry, mint, and a hint of oak. On the palate, it was rich and deeply rooted in brambly, earthy fruit with blackberry, currant, hints of stem and minerals. The texture was full yet grainy with tannin that tugged at your already black-fruit saturated palate. A solid vein of acidit... Read More

    Snoothrank:

20% whole berry Smells like electric typewriter, inky, herbal and mineral ionized air, polished on entry, dark fruit, lots of dark plum fruit, shows a hint of bacon on entry, ripe tannins, great spicy dried rosemary, drops off on the back of the palate, finishes a bit short, shows a hint of bitterness on the finish but it's very well controlled,...
