South East Australia on Snooth
Well you got me going, Greg, so I went back and looked at my wine purchases over the past year. My online/mailorder purchases were exactly 24 cases. 12 from US producers and 12 from those in the rest of the wine world....
I love blended wines and this was one of those wines at a great price that surprised me. The flavors were well balanced without too much acidity. Licorice, plum and cherry flavors enhanced the smokiness and flavor of this...
I have to agree with Echelar in that the old Yellow Tail wines had were packed with more flavor that what has recently come out. Overall though for the price you can't go wrong.
Very much on the sweet side
Just opened a bottle of the 2000 vintage. I think I waited a bit too long as the wine was on the harsh side for being properly cellared until 2009.
This stuff tastes like sweet cough medecine. Some of the worst of the overly jammy Austrailian Shiraz's that seem to be all the rage.
Hochheimer Koengin Victoria Berg Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese QmP 2008 I came close didn't I?
Thanks for the welcome guys. Philip, unless you have been to these fair shores, I suspect you have not seen our best sparkling shiraz, some of which command a $A70-80 price tag and would stand up for notice in any wine...
