I have enjoyed good wine for some time and firmly believe that life is far too short to drink bad wine! My mission now is to educate myself further in this great topic.   Boekenhoutskloof The Chocolate Block 2007

  Very nice wine - full of great fruit, with a beautiful silky mouthfeel and a solid finish. Starts out with delicate lilac and cardamon spice on the nose. Fantastic rich smooth mid palate with wonderful mouthfeel. Very integrated and balanced.

  Pleasant easy-drinking red, probably best with food -roasted meats perhaps. Medium bodied, slightly sweet and well-balanced - lots of tasty fruit. Good value.

This wine is so deep purple you will immediately thing of Smucker's concorde grape jelly, but the taste will confuse the senses. This is actually a very nice blend of two different and contrasting grapes. The body of the cab with the spiciness of the syrah creates a nice wine. Bellingham crafted a fine wine but typically high in alcohol by volume at 14%. Personnally, I think the flavor would benefit from a lower alcohol level, but I think that about everything but Jack Daniel's Old No. 7.    (hide)

  Haute-Cabriere Chardonnay Pinot Noir 2006

  I am usually not into whites (if I feel like white, I drink champagne). This wine is the exception. Crisp enough to be refreshing but with the smooth palate of a chardonnay.
