Polish Wine

 

Wine is a nascent industry in Poland, with only very recent endeavors and not much in the way of export. But this is an industry that is gaining some attention and finding growth. Most of Poland is quite cold, particularly to the north. But areas to the south and east, where it is warmer and drier, can be well-suited to grape production. 
 
Poland has been well known as a source for quality vodka for centuries. They are produced mainly from potato, rye and other grains in straight and flavored styles. Vodka flavored with infused bison grass is very popular. The compound coumarin, found in the grass, adds a pleasant aromatic note to the vodka. However, the concentrated amounts of coumarin found in bison grass are illegal in the US because they are thought to be dangerous blood-thinners.
