  • Robert Weil Riesling Tradition 2015

    Snoothrank:

Clear peach and melon aromas on the nose. Juicy acidity and a fresh lemon zest bite greets the palate with green apple and pear flavors and a tart, brisk finish. There's a vein of floral sweet fruit through the core here that balances the acidity quite well. Very pleasant. Read More

  • Rocca Rubia Riserva 2012

    Snoothrank:

Very dull almost prune color in the glass. Slight chemical note on the nose. Very little fruit on introductionmaybe the slightest suggestion of raisin but without any sugar. Lots of earthiness. Some mushroomy fungal things. No tannin to speak of and, similarly, very little acidity. An OK wine, but lack of acid makes it a bit boring. Read More

  • Fontanafredda Barolo Vigna Lazzarito 1998

    Snoothrank:

The wine is a nice garnet color with a bit of brownish tint along the edges. The nose presents aromas of leather, anise, blackberry and spice box that makes you feel like you've just walked into and old school Italian deli in New York, just what you would expect from a mature Barolo. The taste is just wonderful, a brief blast of ripe fruit up ... Read More

  • Potensac 2005

    Snoothrank:

The wine is a deep, inky purple at the center, with bright ruby along the edges. The nose presents aromas of leather, tar, blackberry and kirsch with just the faintest floral overtones. The taste brings out the gravelly clay soils of the Garonne, but the fruit is still a major player with flavors of black cherry and plum, but the star is the m... Read More

  • Fattoria Scopone Brunello di Montalcino l'Olivare 2009

    Snoothrank:

The wine is a nice deep ruby red color in the glass, perhaps a little darker than I was expecting. The nose presents aromas of ripe black fruit, oak and baking spice, with a hint of smoke. The taste is interestng, as it starts out with a bit of cherry cola, mocha and dark chocolate, that transition to a bit of anise and dried herbs. The tanni... Read More
