  • Lassegue Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2010

Had this with dinner a month or so back at Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse. On the list for $150, so a reasonable markup. Pretty nice, but seemed much too young still. Medium body with medium to high Tannins. Though well-balanced fruit, wood, spice, and earth, just never seemed to open up and at the Restaurant price and even the list pricin... Read More

  • Cantina di Santadi Shardana Valli di Porto Pino IGT Italy Sardinia Valli di Porto Pino Red 2007

Lovely little number that I had at Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse. On the wine list for $75 so minimal markup and considering that, a bargain. Black Fruit/Cherry, Dried Fruits and Raisin that fades after a bit, Spices, Cocoa, Tobacco & Leather, and Licorice. Medium high Tannins, but a smooth mouthful. Quite a food friendly wine. Read More

  • Château de Cabriac Corbières 2013

Dense, semi opaque purple coloration with brown hues around the rim. Meaty aromas primarily, tons of dark berry, booze, hints of raw coffee bean and herbal/grassy notes. Flavors that are fleshy, medicinal Earthy/herbal notes, tea leaf astringency, and a medium body. Smooth finish and on the palate, the alcohol is well hidden and after the swa... Read More

  • Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett Halbtrocken 2013

The 2013 Zeltinger Himmelreich Mosel from Selbach-Oster is just beginning to show a little petrol and spiced apple sauce on the nose; entry is acidic but balanced with a little dollop of sugar on the finish. A little ginger seems present - though nothing as strong as Lebkuchen (that wouldn't be good). 89 points. Read More

  • Château du Moulin Rouge Haut-Medoc 2011

This bottle was part of a l;ot I bought on the website www.bidforwine.co.uk/auctionms/show/104384. Haut-Medoc is a large appellation set up in 1936 for wines produced in 15 communes on the eastern side of the Medoc peninsular stretching nearly 40 miles north of the City of Bordeaux.Winemaking really got started here at the end of the 17th centur... • Château Fontenil Red Bordeaux Blend Fronsac 2011

The 2011 Fontenil - after a laying down of about 2 years - has settled into a civilised yet acidic food wine (sometimes euphemistically known as a "classic vintage"). Still, this is Bordeaux as it is usually known and understood. This wine will last another 10 years, but whether it will improve much is debatable. Today, it is good wine with mea... Read More
