Martinborough is a small town and wine region within the Wairarapa district of New Zealand’s North Island. It’s located a small distance from the capital city of Wellington, and noted for its premium boutique wineries. 
The region benefits from free-draining alluvial soils, long sunny days, cool nights and minimal rainfall, which create the perfect conditions for well balanced, character-driven grapes. Pinot Noir is the standout varietal, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer also grown.
