But it wasn't until 1973, when Frank Yukich of Auckland’s Montana Wines selected Marlborough for its expansion efforts. He saw the potential of this region, with sunny days and cool nights that ensure a long growing season and well balanced grapes. • Al - Most everybody goes to Marlborough but I was in Central Otago during it's early days of real wine discovery and it is beautiful - their pinot noir selection is very good.  Also, Hawkes Bay with it's gravelly, stoney southern Rhone soil is a must, some good wines are hitting the States from there also. You are correct on the price point (+/-)... • Nobilo Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc Wine 2017

    Snoothrank:

Fresh and grassy lemon and grapefruit aromas with the lightest note of peach. Flavors of melon and lemon continue to the palate where they are met with an herbal note of lemongrass and grassy dried sweet basil, finishing clean and lightly floral. Read More

    Snoothrank:

Cool and herbal aromas of lemongrass, sweet basil and fruit notes of lemon and grapefruit. • Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2015

    Snoothrank:

Binny's 6/2017. Mary loved it and I was very close to saying the same. NZ, just does not export crap. Other countries can learn from their system. California, gets a pass, although they could secede from the Union and would then have to compete with a better value product at the low end of the price scale. Read More
