Macedonia Wine

The tradition of wine-making in the Macedonia region of Greece dates back thousands of years. Evidence of ancient grape seeds have been found during excavations, along with storing and drinking vessels. Throughout early history, during the Greek and Roman empires, Macedonian wines have been carried and sometimes traded throughout Europe. Macedonia on Snooth

  • Alpha Xinomavro Reserve Vieilles Vignes

    Snoothrank:

This is rather candied on the nose with aromas of red licorice, necco wafers and tootsie rollls layered over and obscuring the more fruity aromas. Air tempers the sweetness adding in subtle herbal flourishes. A bit weighty on entry, this has a seductive texture, smooth and polished but also subtly tactile with dusty little tannins. the flavors ... Read More

  • Biblia Chora Pangeon Areti Red 2008

    Snoothrank:

Deep earthy slightly oaky and impressively spicy on the nose with layers of mint, turmeric, dried bay leaf and sweet gum adding nuance to the core of smoky black cherry and black raspberry fruit. Rich, slightly weight and yet polished on entry with plenty of density early on the palate that yields to a mid-palate that brightens with acids and ga... Read More

  • Estate Biblia Chora Areti White 2011

    Snoothrank:

Bright and high-toned not he nose with floral, lime and pear notes that show fantastic fruit blossom accents. A touch round and perhaps slightly on the sweet side, this shows off lots of sweet orchard fruit flavors over a fine spice of minerality. A bit simple but showing some textual complexity not he mouth with some dusty astringency that adds... Read More
