Macedonia on Snooth

  • Tikves Kratosija Macedonian 2004

    Snoothrank: Starting at $6.50

This wine is characterized by an intense ruby-red color and aroma of red berry fruits and an extremely pleasant taste. It has a light and harmonious structure and smooth finish. Try this wine with roast meat, grilled food and various strong-fl avored or smoked cheeses.

  • Boutari Naoussa 2005

    Snoothrank:

This has some assertive perfumes that combine notes of dried cherries, smoky, earthy tones and the spicy scent of new oak. In the mouth this is quite a structured wine with firm, slightly drying tannins and bright acidity supporting earthy dark cherry fruits. It's a touch rustic in... Read more

  • Mazedonischer Kadarka & Vranac 2007

    Snoothrank:

It's nothing more than sweet, alcoholic, grape and cherry flavored juice. One the other hand - price reflects the quality.

  • From Rhodes to Macedonia there are *lots* of whites, some very good, to taste. Have had more in Greece than anywhere else, since Japan imports less than even North America. I have had Retsina with many locals, though. When I first encountered it in the flesh (and not in classic... Read more

  • Tried something new at a restaurant we've always been meaning to go to. Sabur ... had mousaka. The wine was a Macedonian Vranec. One of the best food pairings I've had in a while. The server said it goes well with lamb because that's all they eat in Macedonia! New varietal and new... Read more

  • Popova Kula Macedonian Vranec 2005

    Snoothrank:

This is my first wine from Macedonia! Deep purple hue with a surprisingly crisp, light bodied taste. Crisp red fruit, strawberry and cherry. First thought was like a Zinfandel, but lighter. Pairs well with lamb - our server said "That's because they only eat lamb in Macedonia"
