for this region?

The Veneto region is located in the northeast corner of Italy. This is a prolific wine-producing area with dozens of DOC titles, and several IGTs:

*Alto Livenza
*Colli Trevigiani
*delle Venezie
*Marca Trevigiana
*Provincia de Verona
The wines produced under these IGT zones are made from a variety of local and international grapes in bianco, rosso, rosato, frizzante (lightly sparkling) and amibile (lightly sweet) styles. The typical varietals of the Veneto IGT are for whites: Garganega, Trebbiano, Pinot Grigio, Tocai (Tai), Prosecco (Glera) and Chardonnay. The reds: Corvina, Molinara, Rondinella, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir and Carmenere.

  • L'Arco Rubeo Veronese IGT 2007

On the nose, I found dried black cherries, plum, dark chocolate, potpourri, and crushed fall leaves. On the palate, it was silky with a hint of sweetness as dried fruits mixed with sweet spices, citrus rind and hints of dark wood. Vibrant acidity kept it from leaning too far to the sweet side and provided textural contrasts on the palate. Tannin... Read More

  • Villa Teresa Organic Prosecco NV

A nice refreshing sparkler for a lazy Spring evening, this Prosecco is just off-dry with good citrus-like acidity just short of the mouth-cleansing variety. Effervescence is decent, although short in duration; this wine is meant to be drunk quickly and easily. Above average and decent value (85 points). Read More

  • Maculan Red Bordeaux Blend Veneto IGT Brentino 2008

This is a bit of a two-trick pony on the nose, though the two tricks (jammy black raspberry brownies and dried herbs) are both classic and in fine contrast. Smooth, very decidedly middle weight, bright and juicy in the mouth, this is a wine typical of another time. Its decidedly clean with lovely strawberry, cherry and red plum fruits, framed wi... • Masi Campofiorin Rosso del Veronese Ripasso 2006

Tasted 03/09/2012Red fruit jam, candied black cherry, raspberry, spicy notes of clove and green pepper, licorice, china and balsamic notes. In the mouth it is quite warm, full bodied, very soft and fresh, tasty, light tannins. Return to taste the red fruits and spices, not very long the final notes of fruity and tasty.Assaggiato 9 marzo 2012Marm... Read More
