for this region?

The Veneto region is located in the northeast corner of Italy. This is a prolific wine-producing area with dozens of DOC titles, and several IGTs:

*Alto Livenza
*Colli Trevigiani
*Conselvano
*delle Venezie
*Marca Trevigiana
*Provincia de Verona
*Vallagerina
*Veneto

The wines produced under these IGT zones are made from a variety of local and international grapes in bianco, rosso, rosato, frizzante (lightly sparkling) and amibile (lightly sweet) styles. The typical varietals of the Veneto IGT are for whites: Garganega, Trebbiano, Pinot Grigio, Tocai (Tai), Prosecco (Glera) and Chardonnay. The reds: Corvina, Molinara, Rondinella, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir and Carmenere.

  • Rosso Passo Rosso del Veneto 2010

    Snoothrank:

This wine is a wonderful red blend of the Sangiovese and Merlot grapes, perfect with lighter meat dishes and heartier vegetables. The wine required about an hour of decanting before it opened up into a bold and more complex wine.A deep purplish wine with notes of sour cherries and red fruits which is carried over into the attack and mid-palate. ... • Trabucchi d'Illasi Passito Sparavieri Veneto IGT 2007

    Snoothrank:

In the glass, Passito Sparavieri had a golden-amber color. On the nose, there were intense aromas of dried fruit, caramel, honey and almonds. Alcohol by volume was label listed at 13%. On the palate, Passito Sparavieri was smooth and sweet. I tasted nuts and again dried, caramelized fruits. The wine was extremely intense. Passito Sparavieri was ... Read More

  • Masi Corvina Blend Veronese IGT Campofiorin 2009

    Snoothrank:

The nose showed black cherry, herbs, and dark wood tones. On the palate it showed a light to medium body with juicy, ripe red berry and a note of cedar, which stayed through the close. The 2009 Campofiorin represents great value. It's clean and fruity with enough depth to keep you interested throughout the bottle. Read More

  • Trabucchi "Dandarin" IGT Veneto 2005

    Snoothrank:

Dandarin has a label listed alcohol by volume of 14.5%. Prior to drinking the wine was decanted for roughly five hours. The wine has a very dark red color with black reflexes. On the nose I found red fruits including blueberry & raspberry, some blackcurrant, hints of chocolate and spices. I would describe the bouquet as a real sensation. All thes... Read More
