Prosecco di Conegliano is a DOC denoting the growing area subsection of the larger Prosecco di Conegliano-Valdobbiadene DOCG zone in the Veneto, Italy. The wines from this subzone are produced from grapes grown in lower lying areas than in Valdobbiadene. Because these vineyards tend to be warmer, the wines have a fruitier, peachier quality than those produced in higher elevations.

Prosecco is the name given to both the style of the sparkling wine and the grape from which it is made. Though more recently, the varietal is frequently referred to by its nickname Glera to best delineate the two.

  • Zardetto Prosecco Brut 2010

    Snoothrank:

Sweet and fruity on the nose with pineapple, citrus and papaya tones. Relatively simple in the mouth with pear fruit and some tropical accents.  A bit short with pear and a hint of mineral on the finish. Workman-like. 83pts Read More

  • Consorzio Tutela Prosecco

    Snoothrank:

Almondy and earthy on the nose like rye bread. Not really showing any fruit, though what is here is interesting and attractive. Very soft mousse with an underlying vein of sweetness that props up modest floral, green herb and quince flavors that gain a bit of a pear on the moderately long and nicely evolving finish. Easy to drink and easy to lik... Read More

  • Zardetto Prosecco di Conegliano Zeta Dry 2010

    Snoothrank:

Very nice on the nose, with floral tones, yellow currant and peach fruit topped with a hint of anise seed. Not quite as dry as one might hope, this has enough sweetness to offer a bit of sweet/sour tension on the palate while delivering Asian pear and apple fruits right through the moderately long, sugar extended finish. Smells better than it ta... Read More

  • Santa Margherita Prosecco di Valdobbiadene 2007

    Snoothrank:

Smells slightly herbal, yeasty and grassy on the nose, with notes of dried lime zest and small, dusty baked apple fruits. A bit sweet but fairly bright in the mouth, with the sugar adding flavors more than weight. The fruit shows a touch of peach in addition to some spice and apple notes. Very creamy and soft in the mouth, with lovely freshness ... Read More

  • Caposaldo Prosecco Brut NV

    Snoothrank:

Nice and fresh on the nose, with a bit of a candied edge to the lemon and pear fruit. Quite the floral top note. Smells very faintly Gewurtzy-like. This is gently sweet, but super sapid acidity follows right behind the lending edge of sweetness, slapping it down and allowing this to express a citrussy, heirloom apple and lightly floral inner mou...
