  I tried it tonight. Not a bad table wine. Smooth but not very full bodied. Would I try it again? Yes. Good value for the money IMHO

  Guerrieri Rizzardi Bardolino Classico Chiaretto Rose 2007

  Peachy in color, citrus and light vanilla on the nose. Dry and bright, crisp acidity, grapefruit, mineral notes. Refreshing, a perfect after work wine! I liked it a great deal

I ... euros for this bottle of Bardolino Classico, and I am tempted to pour it down the sink. This is a typical Bardolino consisting of a very light bodied red with a long finish, and a somewhat bitter fruity taste. Truthfully, this is worse than the cheapest of French table wines. I think I will mix it with some fruit, juice and brandy and make a sangria out of the rest of this bottle. Drink at your own risk. OK, it didn't make a very good sangria, but I chilled it way down and drank it like a white or rose, and it was ok. Just be warned you are getting a very light red wine without the full range of flavors one would expect from an Italian red    (hide)

However, that could have been the fact that this particular Bardolino seemed rather weak overall - apparently people in this neck of the woods (San Antonio, TX) aren't big into Italian wines other than the real reds. I even bought it from Joe Saglimbeni's, and he's a New York Italian...and they only had one option for the Bardolino...    (hide)

I'm Laurie, brand new to the site as of today, OTBN 2009. I recieved a ... evening, in particular, a Bardolino. You see, she was a med tech when we were in the USAF together, and suffered a needle jab which left her with Hep C, and she is no longer able to drink alcohol. So, I went out and (after three tries/three stores) found a bottle of 2007 Rizzardi Chiaretto Classico Bardolino. My question is on pairing...I have been craving a spinach salad all day, which I make with baby spinach, red onion, bacon, hard cooked egg, and a dressing made with mayo, sugar and red wine vinegar, in equal parts. Am I in for a bad pairing? Thanks for any rapid response - I'm starving! :) Lauri    (hide)
