Bardolino Classico Wine

for this region?

Bardolino is a wine produced from grapes grown in the hills surrounding Lake Garda in the Verona province of Veneto, Italy. It’s a lighter cousin to nearby Valpolicella, using the same grapes: primarily Corvina with small percentages of Molinara and Rondinella. This has lately expanded to Barbera, Sangiovese, Marzemino, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, which can comprise up to 20% of the blend.  Bardolino Classico is the growing zone defined by both its “classic” (original) growing area and the choicest vineyards in Bardolino. This includes the villages of Cavaio, Garda, Lazise, Affi, Costermano and Bardolino. Also, wines produced as Classicos are subject to tighter restrictions than regular Bardolino.

  • Very interesting and informative introduction.  Thank you very much.I ... ... ... one I clicked on was the Bardolino Classico Chiaretto.  I was expecting to read about a bold red wine, but, to my surprise, this is a rose wine.  Also, I am pretty ignorant of the Italian language.  I am limited to single words like "ravioli" and "Prosciutto" or ... • Santepietre Bardolino Classico 2003

    Snoothrank:

This wine has great color in that it is deep garnet with a a brick colored rim. Ripe black berries, earthy, woodsy, dried ginseng and chinese Rhizoma roots make up a aromatic nose. Similar flavors on the palate with medium tannins and a bittersweet aftertaste and medium finish with little acidity. Read More

  • Tommasi Viticoltori Bardolino Vigneto Villa Fontana 2008

    Snoothrank:

I am neutral-liking this wine. It was suitable for my solo light vegetarian dinner, but I tend to like showier wines. Looking for a red wine to replace where a white is usually offered? This may be what you are looking for. Easy red table wine. Read More
