Tuscany is a region with very distinguished titles in its DOC and DOCG repertoire. However, there are several wines that come from specific growing zones, but don’t conform to the regulations of their proprietary DOC, either because of the types of grapes in the blend, the age of the wines and/or the production techniques. Usually going under an IGT instead of a DOC allows a producer some freedom with experimentation in these areas.
