  • Fontanafredda Tenimenti la Lepre Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba DOC Piemonte 2007

    Snoothrank: Starting at $167.01

In my opinion, Dolcetto is a wine you either really like or just hate it. I really like good Dolcetto and this Fontanafredda from the Piemontese province of Cuneo is remarkable. With an alcoholic concentration that turns it into a Dolcetto Superiore (over 13% vol), this is a... Read more

  • Fontanafredda Nebbiolo 'Barolo' Serralunga d'Alba Rosso DOCG Rotwein Fontanafredda Italien Piemont 2003

    Snoothrank:

The nose was short and a bit stifled. The fruit was shallow in the front and the tannins were intense. It probably could have used a few more years aging and a good food pairing.

  • Hello and thanks, I will post pictures of this region asap. I live in Fossano a village close to Alba ( 40 km ) but my family is from Serralunga d'Alba where we still got vineyards of Nebbiolo which gives life to long-lived and strong earty Barolo rather than the opposite hills of... Read more

  • Eremo Langhe Barbera E Nebbiolo Fontanafredda 2004

    Snoothrank:

I love this wine. I searched long and hard for a distributor with a case of it. Someone gave me a bottle of it in SC and I was unable to find it anywhere there. I was thrilled when Pop's had it and had a case of it available to ship out immediately. This is an amazing blend!... Read more

  • Fontanafredda Barolo Serralunga d'Alba 2001

    Snoothrank:

Enjoyed with dinner vs. tasting - outstanding when paired with mushrooms in roasted garlic puree with red mother sauce and Veal San Georgio. A fruit-forward, floral gem with a long finish and extremely food-friendly.

  • Well the 2005 Barolos are tasted, and I can’t help but think back to what I said last year. 2005 is a successful vintage that reflects terroir and winemaking more than weather and will need more time to be as approachable as 2004. This years tasting was a mixed crop and a... Read more

  • Today was the final day of the Alba Wine Exhibition's grand tastings. the morning session today focused on the wines of Monforte and Serralunga. As usual I was tasting blind but I did notice when we moved from Monforte to Serralunga. That medicinal character of the wines really... Read more

  • It's late here in Alba and today was a very busy day with the early morning tasting focusing on the wines of La Morra, Verduno and Castiglione Falletto. Lots of nice wines today and certainly a more promising group that yesterdays wines from Barolo. I haven't had time to go through... Read more
