Read moreOne of my all-time favorite wine memories is stopping at a roadside somewhere ... (Agiogitiko) red from Nemea (where Hercules purportedly killed the Nemean lion). Here's a link to a high-class version: http://www.stylegourmet.com/wine/tas00139.htm I imagine our crone-supplied bottle was a more rustic rendition, but wine bought from a million year old lady on a country road, and quaffed directly from the bottle, has a special deliciousness    (hide)

It's got some snap to it so don't think this is flabby and it offers up some toasty notes and a hint of underbrush on both the nose and the palate. This could use some more length and elegance but is a solid red. 88pts    (hide)

  Snoothrank:

  Smooth, mellow, medium-bodied red, something like a Rioja. Great with the Greek meats and cheeses we were eating.
