Palmberg Terrassen is located in St. Aldegunder Himmelreich (Himmelreich meaning "realm of heaven"), adding up to a total of 0.5 ha (1.2 acres) which are now farmed by the weingut. As with St. Aldegunder-Palmberg Terassen, Weingut read more...Stein thus has more or less the entire (pre-1971) site of the Himmelreich for itself.

The Himmelreich has a very stony blue slate soil and an easterly exposition. The lower part was called "Lay" (and old German suffix indicating slate) and up to the terraces was the Himmelreich. All the vines are ungrafted. Most of them are 70 years old, but the core plot has 100-year-old vines. Fruit from the Himmelreich will usually end up as a Kabinett trocken/feinherb. The remaining grapes go into Stein's Blauschiefer trocken/feinherb wines.    (hide)
