Read moreI love Piedmont and have been there seven times, but I would NOT put it on my ... are high on my list: -- Bernkastel, in the Middle Mosel, with the steep vineyards above the cross-timbered buildings of the old town. -- The rolling hills of the Saar, with the vineyards interspersed with fields -- totally different than the Mosel. -- The Barossa Valley, with its arid, rolling hills and towering eucalyptus trees. -- The Cotes du Rhone northwest of Avignon -- Gigondas and Vacqueyras, nestled against the provencal hills and their olive groves. -- Sonoma County in the autumn, when the leaves of the vineyards turn different colors, according to varietal, turning the rolling hills into a colorful patchwork quilt.    (hide)
