Cahors is an appellation in the southwest of France. The main grape variety used is Malbec, with up to 30 percent of Merlot and Tannat permitted. The region has a long history; it was once known as the “black wine” of Lot because of its inky color. After a period of decline, there has been a resurgence of interest in Cahors due to Malbec’s popularity in Argentina. Because they are comparatively unknown and often very good, these wines represent great value. Some are capable of very long aging.

I'm writing this a day later, after the fact, however, I can conclusively say this was a satisfying & rewarding purchase. Elegant dryness covers y... Read More
