Jurançon Wine

Jurancon is an appellation created in 1936,although there has been viticulture here for centuries, for both dry [sec] and sweet white wines from 25 communes around the village of that name. This is located a couple of miles south of the town of Pau in the foothills of the Pyrennes mountains 30 miles north of the Spanish border. The wines are based on gros and petit manseng and courbu grapes

  • Chamarré Jurançon Tradition Jurançon France Southwest France Sweet 2003

Ooo-la-la! This little French dessert wine from Jurançon is so yummy, you'll need to buy several of the little bottles to stash away for future needs! A blend of three grapes, the Chamarré is a medium sweet dessert wine, sure to delight even those who are not fans of this style of wine. A beautiful, golden to amber color with a nose of tropic... Very nice, golden yellow in colour. Fine aromas of jammy bright, yellow fruits and barrel wood. A whole world of delicious fruits on the palate, perfectly balanced off with nice fresh acidity. The long finish is increasingly driven by citrus and apricot. This is an absolutely lovely dessert wine which will evolve gracefully for at least 10-15 ye... Read More

  • Séduction de la Beaugravière Jurançon 2006

Impressive wine. It is labeled by the winemaker as a semi sweet wine, but when I smelled it in my glass I could bet it was sweet. This wine is very good without any meal, but even better with a fish. I recommend it, as one of my favorites. Read More

It is a clear white wine, the legs were a little oily, the flavor is amazing, it is sweet and a little bitter at the same time. It has a sweet smell and is a wine where I could finish off the bottle by myself! It is not for a seasoned wine drinker however it has a very sweet flavor. Definately a dessert wine. Read More
