Vacqueyras Wine

Vacqueyras is a village in the Southern Rhone that was the second after Gigondas to get its own appellation. The red wines must be at least 50% Grenache, with the rest comprised of Syrah, Mourvedre, and Cinsaut. A small amount of white and rose wine is also made. Especially as quality in the appellation has been increasing while prices have remained reasonable, it is a great place to explore for lovers of Chateauneuf du Pape.

Black plum color purple in the glass. Definitely get some oak on the nose, also berry scents, some musky scents. Pleasant, medium bodied on the palate, but sensations change. Somewhat minty on the edge of the tongue. Sufficient tannin for me to like it, but nothing overwhelming. Bone dry, not a wine that makes you relate to any fruit. Looki... Read More

Not a typical overly ripe and beefy cote du rhone style, but more of a complex, balanced and slightly mineral syrah/grenache blend. Great price too for a 'single vineyard' style rhone wine. Read More
